Self-Care and Psychological support

St George’s Staff Support services

These are difficult, unprecedented times – and we are reviewing on a daily basis the practical and emotional support we are putting in place for staff.

You will have hopefully seen in previous Trust bulletins that we have set up a specific phone line and email address to provide a single point of access around your emotional and psychological support needs related to the current crisis. These can be accessed via 0208 266 6551 (Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm) or by emailing covidstaffsupport@stgeorges.nhs.uk.

The staff support counselling service have also extended their hours to 9am-9pm, Monday-Friday to ensure more of you can access their support. We also know that many staff may have difficulties unrelated to Covid we are keen to emphasise that their service is still there to help you with wider needs as well.  You can contact them directly on 0208 725 336, or discuss with the Covid Staff Support line, who can refer you on if appropriate.

We are also continuing to put on a series of daily drop-in sessions offered by skilled facilitators, to enable staff to come together and reconnect more informally (with appropriate social distancing). These are taking place daily between 9-10am and 3-4pm in the Phoenix Centre (opposite the Courtyard Clinic on Perimeter Road, St George’s).

This is a marathon and not a sprint, and we are looking at other ways we can support you – including offering bespoke debriefs for teams, and reflective spaces on your wards. And it is worth saying support is available to everyone, whether you are clinical or non-clinical – everyone is playing their role. All ideas welcome – please send to covidstaffsupport@stgeorges.nhs.uk
